Topic: Current Development in Companion Animals Breeding
Prof. Peter Dovč (Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a full professor of Genetics, Animal Biotechnology and Animal Breeding at the University of Ljubljana. He graduated in Animal Science
in 1981 and obtained his PhD in 1988 from the Technical University of Munich, focusing on gene transfer and gene expression. His postdoctoral work in Giessen and Munich
addressed mitochondrial DNA variability and molecular characterisation of avian mycoplasmas. From 1992 he led the molecular diagnostics laboratory at the Gendiagnosezentrum
in Grub, developing early diagnostic tools for genetic diseases and parentage control. As a visiting scholar at UC Davis (1994/95), he initiated studies on lactoprotein gene
polymorphisms and their associations with production traits. Since 1995, he has been teaching and leading research at the University of Ljubljana in comparative genomics,
biodiversity, and molecular genetics of livestock and wildlife species. His recent focus includes population genetics of the Lipizzaner horse and single-cell RNA sequencing
of somatic milk cells. He has authored over 160 peer-reviewed papers, six book chapters, and more than 300 conference contributions. He has held leadership positions in the
Genetic Society of Slovenia, the Slovenian Research Agency, and the International Society for Animal Genetics, and serves on editorial boards of several international journals.

Topic: Actual Trends in the Nutrition and Feeding of Non-ruminants
Prof. Ing. Branislav Gálik, PhD. (Nitra, Slovakia) is a full professor of nutrition at the Institute of Nutrition and Genomics and currently serves as the institute's head. His professional focus is on animal nutrition and feeding, as well
as the field of feed science His research focuses on the nutrition and feeding of horses and poultry. He is very active in the field of feed supplements used in the nutrition
of non-natural ruminants (probiotics, prebiotics, phytobiotics) as a way to improve animal performance and product quality. He also works in the field of circular
feed ingredients and by-products from the agri-food industry as possible feed for farm animals. His main research currently focuses on insects as an alternative
feed ingredient in the nutrition and feeding of non-ruminants. At the university, he is the head of the Nutrition study program (doctoral studies) and is also the
head of the university committee for doctoral studies in agriculture and landscape. As an author and co-author, he has published more than 90 articles indexed in

Welcome to the 33rd International Symposium Animal Science Days 2025
Dear colleagues, researchers, students, experts,
Dear friends,
Welcome to the 33rd International Symposium Animal Science Days 2025 (ASD 2025) in Mojmírovce, Nitra, Slovakia, which will take place from 23 to 26 September 2025.
We would like to invite you on behalf of local organizers: Institute of Nutrition and Genomics of Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources, Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.
Topic: "Innovation, Sustainability, and Collaboration in Animal Sciences: Empowering the Next Generation of Researchers"
With this we encourage all scientists to submit they contribution in the field of:
As usually, the conference will feature keynote speakers, inspiring oral and poster presentations selected from participants' submissions, and an exhibition of sponsors. A field trip and a half-day course on basic manipulation with sequence data is also planned.
This year we will invite also young research and innovators from COST action EU-LIV-PHE.
Animal Science Days (ASD) is an annual event with the aim to create a platform for Central and Eastern European colleagues and for interested academics and professionals from around the globe in the field of Animal Sciences to exchange ideas and to enable efficient collaboration. Organizers particularly focus on promoting the generation of young researchers, scientists and experts.
The consortium organizing this scientific event currently includes of 8 partner institutions - universities from Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The impact of this regional meeting of researchers and faculty members from eight universities was also recognized by the European Federation for Animal Science (EAAP), whose goal is to improve knowledge and dissemination of research results in farm animal science. Therefore, ASD 2025 is organised under the patronage of the EAAP.
